East Iron Range ACT

Community Action Priorities

  • Trained community volunteers to deliver “The Basics: Understanding Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease” and “Know the Ten Signs: Early Detection Matters” to law enforcement/first responders
  • Created a community resource brochure
  • Created a presence on city website
  • Offered dementia-friendly meaningful engagement activities
  • Created library checkout bags for the family caregiver and person being cared for

“It’s very clear that the growth in our elder population will continue. Our City, fire department, police department, and the EMT service have witnessed the helplessness, frustration, and safety concerns of families, friends, and neighbors of those living with dementia. Becoming an ACT on Alzheimer’s community is an important step in raising awareness and providing a safe environment for everyone in our community.”
---Mayor, East Iron Range Community
